Witty leopard climbs ladder to get out of water reservoir

Witty leopard that fell into a reservoir tank uses ladder lowered by the Sukna Forest rescue team and gets out. The true incident occurred in the tea estate in Sangatram, some 30 kms from Siliguri. The jungle cat was rescued due to the timely intervention of the rescue team from Mahananda Wildlife sanctuary. However locals claim that this is not a stray incident.

However this is not a stray incident. In July last year a leopard treads away from its den and attacked a forest guard after attacking an old woman. The leopard escaped unhurt.

The same wild beast retuned in the evening and attacked the officials. 'The police and forest officials then fired in self-defense. The injured leopard was taken to the Sukna forest office, where it died,' said sood.

Earlier in2009 on March 15 a leopard strolls into the residential area of Jyotikuchi in Guwahati. Reports say that three people were injured by the animal.

In another incident also in Guwahati on March 28, 2009, a fully grown female leopard was rescued after being tranquilized by an Assam state Zoo veterinarian Bijoy Gogoi.
