Anna Hazare's statements, which hinted that he would be starting a political party soon have been receiving mixed responses. While only a few political leaders such as Ambika Soni welcomed the decision and said the intentions of Anna Hazare were clear, scores of his fans and followers in Karnataka were upset with Anna showing interest in politics. And recently to join the latter league was Mr. Santosh Hegde, the former Lokayukta of Karnataka and Team Anna member.
Santosh Hegde has said that he doesn't support Anna Hazare and his team starting a political party. He has also said that the identity of Anna Hazare was not that of a politician but of a social worker. He has said that Anna Hazare should continue his fight and should not form a political party.
A few other political observers wondered with the negative responses received over the statements by Anna Hazare. They questioned as to why people consider politics as something, which will not be chosen by an ideal person. One should not forget that legendary personalities such as Nehru, Gandhi and Chiranjeevi were not born as political leaders. But their concern for the public made them plunge into politics and similarly in case Anna forms a party, there's nothing wrong in it, they added.
