Gangs of Wasseypur 2 by Anurag Kashyap had been an instant hit on the first day of the release after it had received critical acclaim from all the audiences and critics. With the “go” from all critics the movie is all set to mint money at the box office. The initial collections on the first day soared high above the expectations grossing over 3 cr rupees. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted, "#GOW2 picked up during the course of the day, yesterday. Wednesday *early estimates* indicate 3 cr. May even cross 3 cr."

The popularity of the movie is such that it had been screened at Cannes International Film Festival and Osian Cinefan. Even overseas it has received positive reviews and publicity.

The movie is based on the rivalry between three families where Manoj Bajpayee play a “don” Sardar Khan in the first part. The second part  stars Nawazuddin Siddiqui to take on the role.
Tigmanshu Dhulia, the director of the movie, has also played an important role in the film and the sequel too.
