Data released by an independent organization in the US showed that the approvals given to the L-1 visas were lower by 28 per cent in the year 2011 compared to the previous years.

BANGALORE: The Lokayukta police on Thursday registered FIRs against external affairs minister SM Krishna and two other former Karnataka chief ministers, N Dharam Singh and H D Kumaraswamy, in connection with alleged illegal mining. Eleven bureaucrats have also been named in the FIR filed under under various sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act, Forest Conservation Act, Forest Act and Minerals and Metals Regulation and Development Act (MMRDA) and IPC.
The Kanakadurga temple on Indrakeeladri of Vijayawada will remain closed on Dec 10 on account of lunar eclipse. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Friday arrested Obulapuram Mining Company (OMC) director B. Rajasekhar in an illegal mining case. Rajasekhar is brother-in-law of Rajagopal, the former managing director of the Andhra Pradesh Mineral Development Corporation (APMDC) already in jail. He is the fifth accused to be arrested in the high-profile case and this latest arrest came just a couple of days before the CBI is to file a charge sheet in the court A CBI official said the investigating agency arrested Rajasekhar at Bellary in Karnataka. They were bringing him to Hyderabad to present him before the court.
