Story

Phillauri is the story of Kannan (Suraj Sharma) who returns back from Canada. He is about to get married to his sweetheart Anu (Mehrene) in Amritsar. After being declared a ‘manglik’, he is asked to marry a tree to solve his future problems post-marriage. Kannan gives into pressure and married a tree, only to find later that he’s now married to the ghost of Shashi (Anushka Sharma), whose soul lived on the tree. The rest of the film is all about Shashi and why she turned a ghost. Watch Phillauri to know about the complete story.

Phillauri has an interesting story line and it has been well executed in parts. The movie turns quite interesting at times however it is the slow narration which spoils the feel throughout. The first half looks decent and it has some interesting episodes to get entertained. However a huge dip during the pre-interval episodes spoils the mood and on the whole the first half of Phillauri has been quite comfortable to be watched.

After a decent first half, the second half fails to make that impact across the audience. The uninteresting narration and the unwanted episodes spoil the film’s feel. They deviate the major plot of the film and irritate the audience. It is Anushka Sharma who shines throughout the film and the visuals look extremely impressive. The climax has been decent and on the whole the second half of Phillauri fails to live up the expectations.

Performance :

Anushka Sharma has been extremely convincing as ghost and her performance is the major highlight of the film. Mehreen Pirzada makes her debut with the film and we must say that this fresh face is delightful.Suraj Sharma aptly portrays the confused NRI. He has been impressive in the assigned role. Diljit Dosanjh has been extremely energetic and he steals the show. He has been apt for the role and he performed with utmost ease.

As revealed the story of Phillauri has been extremely new and impressive. The screenplay and the dialogues are the let downs of the film. The cinematography has been top notch and every spent penny has been showcased on screen. The music and the background score carried the film well and they matched the film’s mood. The production values looked grand and the director managed to impress the audience at times.

Final Word

Phillauri is an average show throughout and it offers nothing new and interesting except some loud performances by Anushka Sharma and Diljit Dosanjh.

    Bareilly Ki Barfi Movie Review

Bareilly Ki Barfi has been inspired from a French novel 'Ingredients of Love'. The movie has been adopted as per the nativity of Uttar Pradesh. The first half of Bareilly Ki Barfi has been entertaining however most of the episodes look dragged and some of them spotted unnecessary. The performances by the lead actors and the songs have been decent which makes the first half of Bareilly Ki Barfi passable. The second half of Bareilly Ki Barfi struggles as the director misses the major plot. Focused much on unwanted issues, the second half of Bareilly Ki Barfi is an utter disappointment. Once again, the lead actors top the show and it is the entertainment which makes the film sound decent at times. The climax looks simple and on the whole, the second half of Bareilly Ki Barfi fails to live up the expectations.

Toilet: Ek Prem Katha Movie Review

Toilet: Ek Prem Katha starts on a slow note as it takes enough time to reveal about the behavior of the characters. The first half of Toilet: Ek Prem Katha has been packed with hilarious entertainment which come along with the plot. Some of the songs have been forcefully injected into the plot however some of them have been shot well. On the whole, the first half of Toilet: Ek Prem Katha looks decent with packed entertainment. The second half of Toilet: Ek Prem Katha too has been interesting and reveals a strong social message. Some of the episodes have been dragged too much and the songs are huge barriers for the film. The film has many interesting episodes which strike hard about the problems faced by women across many villages of the country. On the whole the second half of Toilet: Ek Prem Katha has been ok which has been balanced with good and bad episodes throughout.

Jab Harry Met Sejal Movie Review

Jab Harry Met Sejal has many layers and some of them have been well narrated. The entire first half has been passable but it is the slow plot and some unwanted episodes that kill the film’s flavour completely. The songs look decent and they have been shot well. The quirky comedy and the narration makes the first half of Jab Harry Met Sejal passable. The second half of the movie looks dragged and some of the episodes have been hurried which are quite crucial. Shah Rukh Khan and Anushka Sharma have been extremely impressive in their roles. The locations and the cinematography are the major highlights of the second half. The climax has been shot well and impresses the audience. On the whole, the second half of Jab Harry Met Sejal disappoints.

    Mubarakan Movie Review

Mubarakan is completely based on comedy and is a hilarious laugh riot right from the first frame. The story has been framed well and the songs have been placed and shot well. Anil Kapoor and Arjun Kapoor carried the film well and they are the major highlights of the movie. Their comic timing has been simply superb and the entire first half has been filled with loads of entertainment. The second half of Mubarakan too has been laced with enough entertainment however the film dips down at times. Some of the episodes look dragged and some of them have been hurried. The entire second half looks predictable and the climax has been simple, rushed. Indu Sarkar Movie Review

Indu Sarkar has many interesting and realistic episodes and the film showcases the struggle of a woman. Each and every character has been well written and well presented. With an interesting twist, the first half convinces the audience and Madhur Bhandarkar works hard not to miss his mark. The dialouges are the major assets of the film. The second half of Indu Sarkar has been completely focussed on the struggle and Indu Sarkar may not appeal to all the sections of audience. However the gripping narration and the power packed performances lead the film completely. The pre-climax episodes heat up the film and the climax has been well presented. On the whole, Indu Sarkar has been decent but it may not appeal to all the sections of audience.

    Munna Michael Movie Review

Munna Micheal starts on an interesting note however the film loses the grip. Most of the episodes look fake and the characters have not been written well. The songs and the performances by the lead actors have been impressive and lot of time has been wasted for the major plot to be unveiled. There is no strong purpose, but Munna shifts his base to Delhi suddenly. On the whole the first half of Munna Micheal has been below the average line and makes no impact. The second half of Munna Micheal has been completely half baked and it makes no sense. The performances by the lead actors has been completely impressive but the rest of the movie is a huge misfire. The songs have been shot well and Niddhi has been presented in a glamorous way. The second half looks confused and clumsy. The climax looks like everyone in the film along with the audience have been lost. On the whole, Munna Micheal is a complete misfire in all the available ways.
